What we need to quote a charter

  • Departure point and destination (the exact airfield, strip or venue if you know it)
  • Date and preferred departure time
  • Number of passengers
  • Luggage: how many bags, and hard or soft cases
  • One-way, return, or a multi-leg itinerary

A private aircraft is not always a jet: a PC-12 or a King Air is often the better answer for a safari strip or a short regional hop, and we will say so.

Crew & how we fly

We arrange flights through licensed operators. We do not fly the aircraft ourselves, and we say so.

  1. Commercially licensed crew

    Every flight is operated by a commercially licensed pilot flying for an operator that holds a valid Air Operator Certificate. We arrange flights through operators; we do not fly the aircraft ourselves.

  2. The operator is named before you pay

    You will know which company is flying you, and on which aircraft, before anything is confirmed. The aircraft on this page is typical for each flight; the one you fly is confirmed with your booking.

  3. Weather is the pilot’s call, always

    Scenic and bush flying is weather-dependent and the commander decides. We build the day so a scrubbed flight costs you the slot, not the trip.

  4. Weight and balance is real

    We ask for each passenger’s weight because the aircraft needs it, not because we are being personal. It can decide which aircraft flies, and occasionally that a larger one is needed.

What is in the price

Included

  • The flight on the route described, with pilot and safety briefing
  • Standard landing and handling fees at established helipads and airfields
  • Passenger and third-party liability cover carried by the operator
  • For charters: aircraft and crew for the routing quoted

Not included

  • Transfers to and from the helipad or airfield unless quoted with the trip
  • Meals, tastings, game drives and estate or lodge experiences unless packaged
  • Landing permissions and fees at private venues and estates
  • Overnight crew costs where a routing keeps the aircraft away from base
  • Anything a weather diversion adds: fuel, an extra night, a re-route
  • Travel insurance, which we will always tell you to carry

Helicopter From prices are guides in South African rand, checked against the published market in September 2026: per person, per helicopter or for two, exactly as each card says. US dollar figures are a guide at today's exchange rate.

  • All rates are a guide and are subject to availability and confirmation at the time of your booking request. Seasonal rates move by month, so the figure for your dates is confirmed when we build your quote.
  • International payments — add 4.5%. Payments made to Travel Source South Africa from outside South Africa should add 4.5% to cover bank and exchange charges. This is applied to the total of the full requirement, not to individual items, and it is excluded from every rate shown here.
